To be a Teacher

In order to become a teacher in Germany, the traineeship must be properly completed after the theory-laden degree course. An acid test that puts the prospective teachers in a contradictory position: they teach while they themselves are still learning. They award grades while being graded themselves. Between problem pupils, parents' evenings, intrigues in the staff room and exam nerves, the aspirants' ideals are put to the test.
