Hidden beneath the streets of New York City, five-year-old Little and her mother Nikki live with other homeless people who consider the disused subway tunnels their home. But one day they are evicted by the authorities and forced to flee into the cold winter night. Little and Nikki find themselves in a challenging world full of chaos and tragedy, which seems idyllic compared to their previous, unsafe underground life.
