Neil Skinner (Pierce Brosnan) had to serve several innocent years in prison. Now he is free and planning revenge on the man who put him there: Not only was Neil once lured into a trap by his business partner Ebbet Berens (Tom Skerritt) with smuggled emeralds - the former business partner also stole his girlfriend Sheila (Wendy Hughes) from him at the time. Embittered, Neil puts together a group of specialists for a robbery that is supposed to rehabilitate him and put his rival in prison. The amorous collateral damage he accepts: Sheila ends up back at Neil's side at best... For his later role as secret agent 007, James Bond, Pierce Brosnan had already positioned himself with such gentlemanly characters. Brosnan would later remain true to the heist film genre - his appearance in “The Thomas Crown Affair” revolves around an equally excitingly plotted coup as in “The Heist” (the original English title). “Witty, exciting (TV) crook comedy that always has little surprises in store.” (Dictionary of International Film)
