The seductive Lulu (Louise Brooks) lives as a dancer from the attentions of the men and women who fall for her. Among her admirers is Dr. Schön (Fritz Kortner), a wealthy, influential newspaper editor. However, he is already promised to another woman. A scandal orchestrated by Lulu breaks off the engagement and Dr. Schön is forced to marry Lulu. On the wedding night there is a terrible quarrel, in the course of which Dr. Schön is killed. Lulu is arrested, but manages to escape from the courtroom together with Alwa (Franz Lederer), Dr. Schön's son. Their escape leads them via detours to London. Here, to make matters worse, Jack the Ripper (Gustav Diessl), a murderer of women, is up to no good... PANDORA'S BOX from 1929 is probably the best-known silent film by legendary director Georg Wilhelm Pabst, with silent film star Louise Brooks in the leading role. The film was based on the scandalous dramas "Erdgeist" and "Die Büchse der Pandora" by Frank Wedekind.
