Bonobos are an endangered species of great apes. They live in the jungles of Congo. Benny, a small bonobo monkey, is torn from his mother's arms by unscrupulous hunters and falls into captivity. Alone and terrified, he is rescued by Belgian Claudine André, the loving and courageous "Mother of the Bonobos" in Congo, who has created a protective reserve for Benny, his best friend Api and all the other endangered apes. Together with her many helpers, she helps Benny regain the confidence and self-esteem that the hunters in the jungle have taken from him. And one great day, Claudine brings him back to a safe area in the jungle.
