We Are The Tide

Mystery/Science Fiction, Germany 2016

15 years ago, the sea disappeared off the coast of Windholm. Since then, an oppressive calm has enveloped the area, raising questions and causing unease. The cause of the anomaly remains unexplained to this day. With his new theory, the ambitious physics student Micha is one of many young scientists fighting for the rare research contracts at the university. After years of work, however, he experiences the failure of his daring project due to the ossified system - he is not allowed to continue. Secretly, Micha sets out with his colleague Jana to check his suspicions on his own. In the area cordoned off by the military, the young researchers meet the pitiful remnants of a mysterious village community. Because on the day the sea disappeared, it also took the children of the village with it. That is what the villagers claim. But did the children really drown back then? Their bodies have never been found! Between run-down houses and deserted streets, Micha and Jana fall deeper and deeper under the spell of this forgotten place in their search for the truth, where a reality is revealed to them that they have yet to face.
