Georg Kreisler gibt es gar nicht

History/Music, Austria 2013

Who does not know his popular songs "Tauben vergiften im Park" or "Wien ohne Wiener". They are program, representative of the black, profound and thoroughly poisonous humor of the Viennese of Jewish origin, who emigrated to the USA during National Socialism. Georg Kreisler: author, director, cabaret artist, composer, songwriter. In this film by Grimme Prize winner Dominik Wessely, made shortly after Kreisler's death in 2011, actress and singer Barbara Kreisler-Peters, Eva Menasse, Daniel Kehlmann and Konstantin Wecker talk about their experiences with Georg Kreisler, painting a fascinating picture of a multi-layered and multi-talented artist. Fifteen "stumbling blocks," cartoon-like clips and music videos featuring Kreisler's best-known songs, complement the documentary.
