Akwuna

Drama/Short Film, United States 2022

Ebere, a Nigerian woman who has faced significant adversity, finds herself stranded in America after her husband drives her away and destroys her immigration papers. On the same night, she is harassed by two men, and this traumatic experience, along with the urging of UG, a young man who comes to her aid, pushes her to make a life-altering decision. This choice marks the beginning of her new identity, symbolized by her adopted name, Red. Ebere's story reflects the harsh realities that many immigrants endure when navigating life in a foreign country.
