Short Film/Country & People, Belgium 2014

Discover a mysterious battle that has been going on since the Middle Ages. Immerse yourself in the heart of Mons, a city in the Kingdom of Belgium, where every year the locals transform into a wild, exuberant crowd. Now fighters, they'll do anything to pluck the hairs from a dragon's tail that, according to legend, bring good luck. In 2015, the city of Mons was honored as the European Capital of Culture. To mark the occasion, young Mons filmmaker Florian Vallée shot the first documentary on the Combat dit Lumeçon. A spectacular medieval tradition recognized as a masterpiece of intangible heritage by UNESCO.
