Wildes Deutschland: Helgoland – Insel im Sturm

Nature/Country & People, Germany 2010

Not available in your country
Helgoland is Germany's only high seas island and something very special. For centuries, the red rock has defied the elements and offered people and animals a place of refuge in the middle of the rough North Sea. Thousands of migratory birds rest here on their energy-sapping journey across the German Bight, seals and grey seals give birth to their young on the beaches. As small as the island is with 1.5 square kilometres, it offers magnificent natural spectacles at any time of the year.
