Sunny is a pop singer from Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg, who tours villages and small towns with a band. She longs for happiness and recognition as a celebrity. The taxi driver Harry adores her, but his maxim of life, the "quick money", is not hers. She falls in love with the philosopher Ralph, but is betrayed by him. During the tours she has to constantly defend herself against the persecutions of the musician Norbert. After a physical altercation with him and an argument with the disgustingly stupid emcee Benno Bohne, who insults her on stage, she is thrown out of the band...
