A musical dialogue with Helen Buchholtz

History/Music, Luxembourg 2018

In 1998, musicologist Danielle Roster makes a valuable find: she comes across music manuscripts by the previously unknown Luxembourgish composer Helen Buchholtz. 20 years later, contemporary female composers are grappling with the music of their predecessor. The documentary film "Im Dialog mit Helen Buchholtz" accompanies performers and composers (Gerlinde Sämann, Claude Weber, Catherine Kontz, Tatsiana Zelianko) during the creation process of the CD "Und hab' so große Sehnsucht doch", and provides facts, thoughts and interpretations about one of Luxembourg's most fascinating female figures in the early 20th century.
