Mr. Spalek's Cases

Society/History, Germany 2012

Where do peoples memories go when they are no longer alive to personally tell their story? What happens to peoples memories when the only proof of their existance are lifeless documents filed away in an archive in a basement? For more than 40 years John Spalek has been travelling across the US meeting exiles in the hope of saving their documents for prosperity. The people he meets are all elderly, he himself is 83, he knows that time is running out for him and his generation. Spalek knows that the documents he fails to rescue will be lost forever.
