A great, indeed gifted, exceptional actress

Actress Sophie Rois is undoubtedly one of the greatest and most striking protagonists in films and on the theater stage. Born on June 1, 1961 in Ottensheim, Austria, she completed an apprenticeship as a grocery retailer before training as an actress at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna from 1983 to 1986. In 1993, she became a member of the ensemble of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, and since then she has appeared in productions by Christoph Schlingensief, Christoph Marthaler, Frank Castorf and René Pollesch. At the beginning of 2018, she was awarded for her portrayal of the Witch in the Volksbühne production of "Faust. Der Tragödie zweiter Teil" she was awarded the Gertrud Eysoldt Ring. In addition to her theater work, Sophie Rois is a sought-after radio play and audio book narrator, but above all has been admired in numerous cinema and television films since the early 1990s.
