The future - fiction today, science tomorrow
A look at the challenges of our time – and what we can make of them.
How is our future taking shape – between visions, hopes, and real challenges? What moves us today? What opportunities will tomorrow bring? And what role do art, culture, and collective action play in shaping our future?
The theme room of Schleswig-Holstein libraries invites visitors not only to anticipate the future, but to actively and responsibly shape it together. The focus is on three perspectives:
Today's concerns, tomorrow's opportunities – such as climate change, sustainable urban development, mobility, energy, and the growing influence of AI.
The future in art and culture – from utopian visions to dystopian scenarios that reflect our hopes and fears and inspire innovation.
Shaping the future together – through democratic participation, commitment, and responsibility for future generations.
The film collection was created in cooperation with Landeszentrale Bibliotheken SH. It is part of the themed exhibition “Future – today fiction, tomorrow science,” which will take place at various locations in Schleswig-Holstein from March 2 to April 12, 2026.
